Volunteers are very important to the daily function of the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest (EFNW) volunteering can be a rich, rewarding experience. EFNW hosts numerous opportunities for volunteers to plug-in on a short term or long term basis – whatever fits your schedule!
Our volunteers are expected to follow all policies and expectations set forth by the Board of Directors. In accordance with policy, EFNW will conduct background checks on all volunteers working with children. All volunteer positions are unpaid.
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities:
Assist children with epilepsy and other disabilities with a variety of camp activities, including sports, crafts, hiking, boating, etc. Work with other camp counselors to provide a fun, safe environment where campers can take risks, have new adventures and make new friends. Desire to care for, play with and engage children ages 7-16.
- Time commitment: 4 days/3 nights.
- Seizure First Aid training provided.
- Food and lodging provided in beautiful NW camp setting.
- Must provide own transportation to camp.

Community Action Network (CAN) Volunteer Program
EFNW receives hundreds of calls a year for a representative to talk to a service club, school or company. CAN Volunteers (see CAN Volunteer section) volunteer to help start Run/Walk teams and raise funds for EFNW, provide public speaking and/or one-to-one support and sharing of one’s personal experience with epilepsy. CAN Volunteer training sessions to become a certified CAN Volunteer are available through EFNW.

EFNW holds several community fundraising events each year including the Northwest Run/Walk for Epilepsy, conferences and seminars, and the Light the Flame Dinner Auction. Volunteers can assist with area set-up, event registration, take down and other needed activities. Must be able to take directions well and act quickly. Must provide own transportation.
Board or Committee Leadership
EFNW hosts a variety of program, fundraising, community involvement and other related committees. The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that meets five times each year.
